Jean-Luc Coatalem

 

Jean-Luc Coatalem is a French writer and journalist. He is best known for his essay on Paul Gauguin, Je suis dans les mers du Sud (Grasset, 2001), which won the 2001 Amerigo Vespucci Prize and the 2002 Prix des Deux Magots. It has been translated into four languages, including English and Chinese. He also wrote Mes pas vont ailleurs devoted to the writer Victor Segalen (Stock, 2017), which received the Femina Essay Prize and the French Language Prize. His latest book, La part du fils (Stock, 2019) translated into Spanish and Georgian, received the Grand Prix Jean-Giono and was the Goncourt Choice of Georgia.
